NexGen Wallet directly tackles financial management challenges by providing a unified, secure platform. It combines traditional banking and cryptocurrency in one easy-to-use app, eliminating the clutter of multiple apps. This streamlined approach offers a comprehensive view of a user's financial activities, empowering informed decisions. With NexGen Wallet, managing finances becomes effortless, all from one place.
In today's fast-paced digital world, individuals face the challenge of managing their finances across multiple platforms, often juggling between traditional banking apps and separate cryptocurrency wallets. This approach to financial management can lead to confusion, inefficiency, and a higher risk of security breaches, making it difficult for users to have a clear, unified view of their financial health. How might we design an intuitive interface that simplifies how users interact with their finances, allowing for a seamless experience across all their financial activities?
NexGen Wallet addresses these challenges head-on by offering a unified, secure platform that simplifies financial management. By integrating both traditional banking features and cryptocurrency functionalities in one user-friendly app, NexGen Wallet eliminates the need for multiple financial apps.
Unified Platform: Combines traditional banking and cryptocurrency, reducing the need for multiple apps.
User-Friendly Design: Offers an easy-to-navigate interface, simplifying finance management.
In-App Bill Pay: NexGen Wallet includes a Bill Pay feature, allowing users to easily manage and pay their bills directly within the app, streamlining financial tasks and ensuring timely payments.
User interviews: Five participants were interviewed one-on-one and remotely through video/phone calls. Participants were chosen (ages 20-69) to evaluate how they keep tabs on their finances, their financial goals, and how they use digital wallets.
A Competitor analysis was done, we looked at three competitor’s products and strategies, identifying gaps, opportunities, patterns, and trends
After conducting interviews with 5 individuals on their management of traditional finances and cryptocurrency assets, key insights were gathered on how people handle their finances in a digital environment. Participants highlighted the simplicity and convenience of online banking tools, though diverse needs and challenges were voiced concerning cryptocurrency integration and payment automation. These discussions shed light on the overall preference for simplified, secure, and automated financial management, emphasizing the need for solutions in digital financial platforms.
After analyzing survey and interview insights, I used Affinity Mapping to uncover key patterns in customization, engagement, and accessibility.
Top topics that emerged across the board were:
Common Conclusions and Impact on The Process:Emily and Sarah's personas shoe the demand for an integrated, straightforward platform that simplifies financial management, like bill pay, regular banking needs, and embracing the growing interest in cryptocurrencies. Their insights lead us to prioritize the following areas in further developing NexGen Wallet:
From these personas, we created three different HMW (how might we) statements that corresponded to real-life problems that a target user is struggling with that would prompt them to use the application:
After researching user goals, personas, and insights from interviews, I created a sitemap to clearly outline the pages and screens for NexGen.
Three flows were created: Add a bank card+ Add a crypto coin + Pay a bill.
Add a bank card
This flow was chosen to make starting with NexGen Wallet smooth and hassle-free. Adding a bank card is often the first step for users to consolidate their finances, so we made sure it's quick and easy.
Add a crypto coin
Integrating a crypto wallet into the flow opens up the digital currency world to our users. It was important to include this to cater to the growing number of people who use or are interested in cryptocurrencies.
Pay a bill
Including a bill payment flow was a no-brainer. Everyone has bills to pay, and making this process as straightforward as possible adds immense daily value and convenience for our users.
Low-fidelity wireframes were important in mapping out the flows because they allowed me to focus on the core functionality without getting caught up in design details. This approach helped me rapidly iterate and validate the user journey for adding bank cards, integrating crypto wallets, and paying bills, ensuring NexGen Wallet is building a solid foundation that meets user needs.
When designing the UI for NexGen Wallet, we focused on making it simple, safe, and welcoming for everyone. We chose colors like purple, blue, white, and black. Purple makes it feel creative and exciting. Blue shows that it’s trustworthy and safe. White keeps everything clean and simple, and black adds a bit of class for those who like their apps looking sharp. For the text, I went with Montserrat because it looks modern and is easy to read, making sure everyone can use the app without trouble.I designed the logo to mix the cool parts of tech and finance in a simple style, using our chosen colors. The idea was to make a logo that fits the smart and secure feel of NexGen Wallet and appeals to all users.
This usability testing focused on the NexGen Wallet application, specifically examining three critical task flows: Adding a bank card, adding a new crypto token, and paying a mortgage bill. The aim was to assess the app's user experience, including navigability and interaction efficiency.

Reflecting on the development journey of NexGen Wallet, the process has been both enlightening and affirming of the initial goals: to create a financial management tool that is simple, secure, and inclusive. Through the design and testing of core functionalities—adding a bank card, integrating a crypto wallet, and enabling bill payments—we've underscored the importance of designing with our users' diverse needs at the forefront. This has ensured both the usability and effectiveness of our app in managing financial tasks with ease and security.
As we move forward, we have enough valuable feedback and insights from user testing, we're able to enhance and expand the app's features. Each iteration brings us closer to solving real problems and addressing the needs of our users. The positive feedback from our community of testers has been particularly rewarding, affirming our commitment to this project and fueling our passion for innovation in financial technology.
I'm also proud of what has been accomplished with NexGen Wallet and the positive reactions it has recieved. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that efforts resonate so closely with our users' needs and goals. This journey has not only helped my confidence as a designer but also reaffirmed that vision for NexGen Wallet is resonating with those it aims to serve. I am eager to continue refining and expanding NexGen Wallet to better serve our users and redefine the experience of financial management.
